Neon OS 25.08.25 is now available :tada:

Neon OS users can ask Neon to “check for updates”, or click the notification bell after powering on/restarting their Mark 2.

Highlighted Changes:

  • Updates to the base OS image
  • Updated default configuration handling in Neon OS images
  • Updated sj201-interface package in Mark2 images

Hot on the heels of last week’s release, this release includes updates to system packages which should resolve some user reports of sj201 audio device initialization. This also includes updates to configuration handling in Neon OS, which will help ensure smooth updates as all of the non-user configuration files are now managed in Neon Core.

Thanks for the update.

One issue I’ve noticed is that the raspotify service no longer works. It runs and I can connect to it but there is no sound.

I’m getting the same issue on a RPi 5 with OpenVoiceOS and reported it on librespot Invalid state { the provided context has no tracks } · Issue #1566 · librespot-org/librespot · GitHub

Thanks for opening that issue; if I recall, Spotify doesn’t officially support any of these APIs so these breaking changes do happen and the hope is that librespot can keep up with them.

I’ll try to keep an eye on this thread in case I can build an updated Neon OS image with some fix.
