Mycroft Mail - sendgrid.net blacklisted by Spamcop

Hello,

I have just started with Mycroft some days ago and I am pretty happy about it.

But I have identified an issue with mails being send by Mycroft (e.g. “send me details” or “authenticate with remember the milk”).

It seems that mails being send from Mycroft originate from sendgrid.net which is blacklisted by Spamcop (I run my own mail server so I was able to identify the issue in the logs).

Here is the log:
Jan 3 09:42:53 mail postfix/smtpd[7329]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from o1.3nn.shared.sendgrid.net[167.89.100.129]: 554 5.7.1 Service unavailable; Client host [167.89.100.129] blocked using bl.spamcop.net; Blocked - see https://www.spamcop.net/bl.shtml?167.89.100.129; from=<bounces+2781299-f12a-[my email adress removed]@sendgrid.net> to=<[my email adress removed]> proto=ESMTP helo=<o1.3nn.shared.sendgrid.net>

Is it possible to send mails from Mycroft via another mail provider? Or that sendgrid.net takes care not being blacklisted?

Thank you very much in advance and keep up the great work!

Regards
Mirco

Hi Mirco, welcome to Mycroft, glad you’re liking it!

That’s surprising to hear about sendgrid getting blacklisted. My reading of the log message you posted suggests that they blocked a specific IP 167.89.100.129 rather than the entire sendgrid.net domain. It also looks like this has now been unblocked based on spam cops lookup tool.

Can you let us know if you’re still not getting emails?

Hi,

thanks a lot for your reply. Unfortunately the sendgrit SMTP server is now on another blacklist:
Jan 6 09:37:41 mail postfix/smtpd[28884]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from o1.3nn.shared.sendgrid.net[167.89.100.129]: 554 5.7.1 Service unavailable; Client host [167.89.100.129] blocked using ix.dnsbl.manitu.net; Your e-mail service was detected by spam.over.port25.me (NiX Spam) as spamming at Mon, 06 Jan 2020 06:20:37 +0100. Your admin should visit http://www.dnsbl.manitu.net/lookup.php?value=167.89.100.129; from=<bounces+2781299-f12a-[my mail address removed]@sendgrid.net> to=<[my mail address removed]> proto=ESMTP helo=<o1.3nn.shared.sendgrid.net>

I use three blacklists: Spamcop, Spamhaus and NiX Spam. As they are very common I wonder why sendgrit is not taking measures to prevent being blacklisted. For me personally this issue is resolved as I will whitelist the sendgrit SMTP server on my machine.

Thanks a lot!

Regards
Mirco
