How to upgrade ovos/mycroft?

Hi, does OVOS has some upgrade script or automatic procedure? how to check what version I am running, what version is the latest, and how to update it?

bump
anyone?

EDIT: i remember picroft was auto-updating itself. everytime i would run mycroft-cli client it was visible that he is pulling new packages.

How did you install OVOS? At its heart, OVOS is based on Python package versions, but upgrading will differ depending on how you first installed it.

I used precompiled ovos-rpi3 image. Dont know the exact name, but it’s the thing that is marketed as picroft replacement…

Edit: its raspOVOS

so, any way of running an ovos/mycroft software update on raspOVOS ?
How to check the current running version of mycroft software on the machine? How to check what is the latest current version available?

does this apply to raspOVOS rpi3 image?

Update

To update the current Open Voice OS instance, backup your ~/.config/mycroft/mycroft.conf or ~/ovos/config/mycroft.conf (only if required) and re-run installer but answer “No” to the “Do you want to uninstall Open Voice OS?” question.

ovos-installer is not compatible with raspOVOS

ovos-update command is shipped in the images raspOVOS/overlays/base_ovos/usr/local/bin/ovos-update at dev · OpenVoiceOS/raspOVOS · GitHub

I dont have such script in /usr/local/bin or anywhere else, so i guess it wasn’t a part of raspOVOS RPI3 image.
What would happen if I would copy this file from the github and execute it?

i think it should work in principle, but not sure how old your raspOVOS version is and if there’s been any major changes since, so no guarantees
