# Neon OS Release 24.05.01

Neon OS [24.05.01](https://github.com/NeonGeckoCom/neon-os/releases/tag/24.05.01) is out now 🎉 .

Neon OS users can ask Neon to _“check for updates”_.

Highlighted Changes:

- Updated skills and plugins
- Removes deprecated skill installation and setup code
- Includes core updates to support new update mechanism
- Prepares for ovos-core 0.0.8 support

Building on the previous [24.4.8 Release](https://community.openconversational.ai/t/neon-os-release-24-4-8/14639), this includes the core module updates that will allow for testing stable releases via the beta release track before making them broadly available as outlined [in our documentation](https://neongeckocom.github.io/neon-docs/neon_os/).

This release will also be the last one using ovos-core 0.0.7, so the next alphas (and stable to follow) will include all of the great improvements currently in the ovos-core 0.0.8 alpha releases.

To be honest, the previous release in Feb (and several before that) works so poorly for me that I just used Siri and the Microsoft home app, much as I hated to. But this update seems to let the MkII understand me much better. Thanks!

It appears the download links going to [2222.us](http://2222.us) are broken. I wanted to update my MKII, but with that down I can’t get it.

Going forward, releases are moving to [download.neonaiservices.com](http://download.neonaiservices.com) and you might get a faster download from [this link](https://download.neonaiservices.com/neon_os/core/rpi4/master/debian-neon-image-rpi4_2024-05-01_14_25.img.xz) using that new server.
