`/etc/fstab` changes are not preserved between updates, but the (pre-update) modified version will be saved in `/opt/neon/old_overlay`. The relevant scripts are in the [neon\_debos](https://github.com/NeonGeckoCom/neon_debos/blob/dev/initramfs_build/overlay/scripts/check_update.sh#L83) repository.
